State waitlist. If you ask to hear when letter drafts cover your state, we store your email and state and email you once when they do. Ask us to remove you anytime.
Your files may be personal, so we keep them briefly. Photos and videos you upload are resized into working copies (and a few video stills) and the originals are deleted right after processing. Documents (lease, messages, deduction letter) are kept so they can be attached to your exhibit PDF. Everything for a packet, including working copies, documents, the letter draft and the video, is deleted automatically 7 days after upload. You can delete a packet sooner from its page, or all of them from your account page.
Processors. Reduced-size copies of your photos and the text or images of your documents are sent to our AI provider (xAI) to label rooms, match photos and read dates and amounts, under its API terms. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see your card. If you sign in by email, we store your email address to send sign-in links and receipts.
Emails. We send email through our email provider, Resend, and replies go to support@paperchore.com. You get sign-in links and purchase receipts because you asked for them. About 10 days after a purchase, we send one short email asking how it went. It goes once per product, only for real paid purchases, and you can simply reply. It includes an optional link to join the PaperChore newsletter, which is double opt-in. Every follow-up and newsletter email has a one-click unsubscribe link.
Cookies and analytics. We set an account cookie that keeps your packets linked to this device, and a first-party "src" cookie that remembers which link you came from for 30 days. Analytics are aggregate daily page counts with no IP addresses or tracking cookies. IP addresses are held briefly in memory for rate limiting and aren't stored.
What we don't do. We don't sell your data, use your files for advertising or to train AI models, contact your landlord, or put file contents or names in our logs (logs hold counts, timings and costs only).
