Your deposit photos,
organized into proof
in minutes.

Moved out and the landlord kept part of your deposit? Upload what you already have: move-in and move-out photos, the lease, texts and the deduction letter. DepositThis lines it all up by date, matches each move-out photo with the same spot at move-in, and puts it in one packet you can send or bring to small claims.

See your timeline and first photo pair before you pay. Then $19 for the packet, or $29 with the letter draft and video (California renters). One-time, no percentage of what you recover. See a sample.

1

Upload what you have

Photos straight from your phone (the dates inside them matter, so don't screenshot them), an optional walk-through video, the lease, screenshots of texts or emails, and the landlord's deduction letter.

2

We sort and match it

Every file goes on a dated timeline, using the date your camera stored. Each move-out photo is paired with the move-in photo of the same spot, labeled by room, so anyone can compare at a glance.

3

Download, review, send

One exhibit PDF with a cover page, timeline, photo pairs and your documents attached. The Complete packet adds an editable letter draft and a short photo-comparison video.

📎 Only what your files show

The cover page lists facts straight from your files: how many photos, their dates, what the landlord's letter says. Nothing is guessed. Dates and amounts the letter draft can't find in your files become a yellow [FILL IN] for you to complete.

⚖️ The rule, checked against the source

In California, the landlord has 21 days after you move out to return the deposit or send an itemized statement. The letter draft includes a plain summary of California's rule that we checked against the official sources, inserted word for word (the AI doesn't write it). See the rules and sources. Other states are coming; the evidence packet already works in every state.

Questions

Is this legal advice?
No. We organize your files. We're not a law firm, and this isn't legal advice. We put your own files in order and draft a letter from them for you to check and send yourself. For advice about your situation, contact a local tenant-rights group or legal aid; our rules page links official self-help resources.

Do you take a cut of what I get back?
No. You pay once ($19 or $29). Whatever you recover is yours.

I didn't take move-in photos. Is it still worth it?
Maybe. Move-out photos, the timeline and the landlord's own letter can still matter, for example if the itemized statement arrived late. The free preview shows what your files add up to before you pay.

Which states?
The evidence packet ($19) works in any state. Letter drafts, and so the $29 Complete packet, are California-only for now: we only write letters where we've checked the state's rule against official sources. Want it for your state? Join the list:

We'll email you once, when letter drafts cover your state. Nothing else.

Will it say the landlord is wrong?
No. The photo captions describe what looks different between the two photos, in neutral words, and are marked as automated so you can check them. You decide what to claim.

What happens to my photos?
We keep resized working copies to build your packet and delete the originals right after processing. Everything for a packet is deleted after 7 days, or sooner if you delete it. See Privacy.

Something isn't right after I pay?
Email support@paperchore.com. If the packet didn't work for your files, we refund. Refund policy.
